Our Mission
The purpose of the WSPCP is to create an environment of trust, confidentiality, reliance, and professionalism in which employees and the public can feel comfortable with the support a police Chaplain can provide. It is the mission of this program to provide another option for the mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of employees, and to reach out with comfort, support, and counseling to anyone in need, especially those impacted by tragedy.

Our History
By creating a joint Chaplaincy Program supported by RCW 41.22.010, the WSP has gained a resource for the wellbeing of its employees that assists in the following circumstances:
-
Crisis intervention for employees and families;
-
Peer support;
-
Major crime victim counseling;
-
Next of kin notification and counseling;
-
Critical incident stress debriefing; and
-
The leadership necessary to help coordinate all chaplaincy efforts throughout the state

The Chaplaincy Program was first introduced to the Washington State Patrol at the annual Washington State Patrol Fallen Officer's Memorial at the Academy on May 3, 2011. The WSP Chaplain program currently provides approximately 25 highly trained chaplains serving 39 counties and 66,000 square miles.

Chaplains provide comfort, care, and counseling to employees dealing with burnout and post-traumatic stress. They are CISM trained and integrated into the agency's Peer Support network.
